Obituary for Jared James Pattinson

November 1, 1990 - January 11, 2021
Folsom, Ridley Township, Pennsylvania | Age 30

It is with deepest sorrow, that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, son, brother, family member and friend, Jared James Pattinson on January 11, 2021. Jared was born and raised in Prospect Park and was the sixth of ten children that the Lord gave to Susan and Kenneth Pattinson. Those who were blessed to know Jared have lost a shining light, that will never be extinguished.

Jared had a great passion for sports, especially football and the Philadelphia Eagles. He enjoyed the physical contact of the sport and started playing in grade school and continued his football career at Interboro High School and at Delaware Valley University where he graduated with a degree in criminal justice.

After graduating from college, Jared's sense of purpose led him to enlist in the US Army as a Specialist in the Infantry. He was proud to serve his country and appreciated the structure and order of the military that allowed him to demonstrate his leadership skills. There he formed many friendships that he treasured.

While serving, he married the love of his life, Gabrielle Melillo. They shared the happiest day of their lives November 16, 2019 on Long Beach Island, surrounded by the family and friends they cherished. Jared's greatest passion was his family. He was everyone's gentle giant with an enormous heart and a smile to match.

He is survived by his wife Gabrielle, his beloved mother and father, and his four brothers and five sisters: Jenna (Brian Bruton), Kyle ((Stephanie), Amanda, Samantha, Kenneth, Briana (Matt), Alexa, Shane and Chase. He also leaves behind his mother and father in-law, Marianne and George Melillo, siblings-in-law Joseph (Jatinder), Alessandra, Luca, and George III. In addition, four lovely nieces, Leighton, Everly, his Goddaughter Reece Bruton, Elodie Pattinson, and his nephew Joseph Melillo, Jr.

"Build me a son O Lord who will be strong enough to know when he is weak, and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid; one who will be proud in honest defeat, and humble and gentle in victory. A son whose wishbone will not be where his backbone should be. Let him learn to stand up in the fury yet have compassion for those who fail".

Visitation will be held Monday January 18th at 9:30 am to 11 am at Saint Gabriel Roman Catholic Church, 233 Mohawk Ave, Norwood PA 19074. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 am with private burial later. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Gary Sinise Foundation to support veterans, first responders, their families and those in need.
Those who are attending are required to wear face masks and observe social distancing.
