Tribute & Message From The Family

Gerard "Jerry" J. Ward, 65 of Prospect Park, passed away on Monday January 4, 2021 at the Crozer Chester Medical Center in Upland. He was born November 11, 1955 in Darby, PA to the Mary (O'Connor) Ward Donegan and the late Hugh Ward, Sr.

As a young child Jerry enjoyed playing on the little league team that his father coached. Growing up he enjoyed playing many sports with his brothers. As he got older he loved to read and to play tennis weekly and later loved coaching his daughter's basketball and softball teams. Jerry devoted his life to his daughter Kristin, who he loved with his whole heart. They shared countless memories, laughs and love.

Jerry graduated from St. James High school in 1973, he worked for the Carpenter's Union for 30 years, and he retired in 2010. His favorite thing in the world was spending time with his grandchildren and sitting on the sidelines cheering them on as they played their sports.

In addition to his father, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother, John.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Ward Donegan; daughter, Kristin Pompei; son in law, Nick Pompei; grandchildren, Emma Pompei (9) & Luke Pompei (6); siblings, Mary Therese (John) Thomas, Hugh (Fran) Ward Jr., Joanne (Jeff) Mohrmann, Kathleen Dyer, Jeanne (Brian) Bonnes & Eileen (Jef) Christian; along with 24 nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to Jerry's visitation Monday January 11th from 10 to 11 AM at St. Madeline Parish, corner of Penn St. & Morton Ave., Ridley Park, PA 19078. Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 11 AM. Interment in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery, Linwood. Social Distancing Guidelines will be observed and facemasks are required.
