Tribute & Message From The Family

James F. McLaughlin of Philadelphia, PA passed away on November 4th, 2020 at the age of 72. He was born to the late James A.& Jennie (Siwak) McLaughlin on January 30th, 1948.

James "Jimmy" was a graduate of West Catholic High School, and continued his education by graduating from Hussian School of Art in 1972. Jim was also very proud to be a Veteran of the United States Navy where he was the ship swimmer.

Jim was an accomplished muralist, painter, and artist well renowned in the tri-state area. Many of his works have been displayed in local publications, local art shows, private homes, and several murals are still treasured in the unique victorian homes in Cape May NJ. Jim had an incredible talent for creating beauty and inspiring imagination through his art and various works. Never one to hold still Jim also enjoyed gardening, completing the odd project or refinishing furniture to make it come alive again. Jim also had a passion for skiing the majestic mountains both here in the states and abroad as part of "The Crude Dude Ski Club" Perhaps even more notably Jim will be remembered for his jovial nature, distinctive laugh, and never ending sense of humor. His zest for life was infectious to all who met him and easily made him everyone's favorite person in the room.

He is survived by his brother William McLaughlin, his sister Genevieve McCaney, his two adult children and their spouses, Kristine Scarpa (Mark), Shannon Briones (Jorge), and his five adoring grandchildren, Braiden and Madelyn Scarpa, & Zion, Declan, and Matais Briones. Jim's memory is also honored by his beloved nieces, nephews, and many close friends and companions, several of them who have known him since childhood.

Memorial services will be private for close family and friends due to COVID.

Hey Jupe, Joan (Lynch) Bickel here. I was so sad to hear about Jimmy's death. Last I saw him was at our last WC Reunion 4 years ago. We caught up, laughed, and reminisced about our Good Shepherd Days and those famous "dance parties" we had at your house on Friday night, which ultimately led to the "awkward" kissing games----we laughed our heads off ! He actually was my boyfriend in 6th grade for 3 weeks, even had a little beaded ring ring with his name on it, then we both moved on--LOL. He was a cutie, and I know he'll be missed by many. My best to you & your family.

Hello my name is Albert Abbo I am so so sorry to hear about Mr. McLaughlin. I was walking to the Labcorp to get some lab work when I hear people screaming for help. I performed CPR on Mr. McLaughlin. I have been thinking about him night and day. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I am also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps which makes this even harder to accept that I could not help one of my own. Once more God bless your family.

I'll always remember the ski trips and the laughter he created. Just think "Clydesdale".
