Tribute & Message From The Family

Dolores R. Durkin
On Saturday, January 25, 2020 Dolores Regina Durkin (nee O'Regan), devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 86 in Ridley Park. Dolores was born on January 31, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Leonard and Mary (Reaph) O'Regan. Her greatest joy was time spent socializing with her family and with her many friends, especially her sorority sisters from West Catholic Girl's High School, Class of 1950. Dolores will always be remembered for her kind and caring character as well as her outgoing and cheerful nature. She quickly made friends wherever she went and always had a lasting effect on anyone she encountered.

In her early years Dolores was a proud member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish in Southwest Philadelphia where she attended the parish grade school. She went on to West Catholic Girls' where she was active in coordinating social activities for her class, and created lifelong friendships. After graduation, Dolores continued to stay involved and assisted with organizing her class reunions for more than 50 years. In addition to marrying and raising a family, Dolores worked for many years as an administrative assistant at Hahnemann Hospital and at the Boeing Company.

Dolores is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles, and by her sisters Virginia (O'Regan) Collins and Ann (O'Regan) Bulkey (Charles). She is also survived by her children Charles (Mary Jane), Virginia, and Freddie DePrince (Rick). Dolores is grandmother to Richard Durkin, Daniel Durkin (Leslie), Katherine (Durkin) Schlager (Charles), Emily Durkin, and Marissa DePrince. Her great grandchildren are Derek Durkin, Charles Durkin, and Henry Durkin.

Dolores was predeceased by her beloved daughter Mary, her siblings Leonard O'Regan, Robert O'Regan, Mary O'Regan, Angela (O'Regan) Treiber (Michael), and Daniel O'Regan, and by her brothers-in-law Edward Murphy and John Collins.

Family and friends are invited to Dolores' viewing Thursday January 30th from 9:45 – 10:45 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 233 Mohawk Ave., Norwood, PA. Funeral Mass will follow at 11 AM. Interment in Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Condolence & Memory Journal

Freddie, I think of your Mom every time I make chicken noodle soup from scratch. She was the only woman that got our Motts excited about soup or anything to do with vegetables, actually. I still remember sitting in her living room laughing along with whatever it was you two were joking about. Love to you and your family. XO

The world will be a little less bright without Doe on it but her star will shine brightly. I will always remember her wonderful spontaneous laugh. All my love and sympathy to you all. Love Ellen
