Tribute & Message From The Family

Joseph R. Lane, Jr. 59 of Glenolden passed away Saturday December 14, 2019 at his home. He was born October 2, 1960 in Philadelphia to the late Joseph R., Sr. & Geraldine (Jendos) Lane.

Joe grew up in Folcroft, played many sports for the Boys Club, he was an exceptional athlete. He certainly made sure everyone knew that about him. Joe excelled in football and baseball throughout his childhood. He was an extremely hard working man. He worked at Wyeth Labs for 33 years in Mechanical Maintenance and for the remainder of his career he was the Chief Maintenance Engineer at Parc Rittenhouse.

Joe was a former Folcroft Boys Club football player who went on to become a successful and memorable football coach for St. Charles CYO where he had the pleasure of coaching both sons, Joey and Frankie, along with many others. He was also extremely prideful in teaching his daughter, DeAnna, her favorite sport, softball. Joe was dedicated to helping his children succeed in their choice of sports, he adored watching them do what they loved and was at every game. He was their #1 fan.

Joe also had a passion for riding motorcyles, he loved to ride his Harley and talked about it more often than not. He was married to his childhood sweetheart (Michele) for 40 years. What he loved most was being Pop to his 4 beautiful grandchildren. He loved them all very dearly.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Michele (Riccelli); loving children, Joseph IV and Francis, (daughter) DeAnna and soon to be son in law (Justin Lannutti); Grandchildren: Anthony, Francesca, Haley, and Dominic; Siblings, Michele Mullica (Mark) and Daniel Lane (Lisa).

Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Thursday December 19th from 6 to 8 PM at the Cavanagh Family Funeral Home, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood. A memorial Service will immediately follow at 8 PM. Interment will be private. The Lane family will be accepting floral remembrances for Joe's services.
