Tribute & Message From The Family

Gaetano L. Iannitti, 92 of Philadelphia passed away December 11, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Philadelphia to the late John & Margaret (Altobello) Iannitti.

Guy worked as a machinist at Baldwin Locomotive and Westinghouse. He also drove motor coaches for casino travelers and other charter trips, was a limousine driver, and drove school buses for Interboro Schools.

Guy was an avid and excellent bowler, participating in many leagues through the years. He enjoyed being an amateur gunsmith and target shooting often, even making his own rounds. He played guitar, playing in a band as a young man, and always enjoyed music, especially Dean Martin. At the age of 50, Guy bought his first motorcycle and spent many hours customizing and riding his bikes. He enjoyed woodworking and created unique projects for his family from pictures they gave him, saying "Hey, Dad, can you make this?", and he did. Guy could fix anything. He worked on his cars and taught his family the right way to do things. He was an excellent upholsterer (a trade he worked as a side job), repairing and recovering items for family and friends.

Guy would help you in any way he could. Home projects, car trouble, need a ride to the doctor, airport, work or school, he was there. He was a teacher who taught us all something along the way. He loved family time and enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Guy would play little pranks on the kids for fun, which continued into their adulthood.

Guy faced multiple challenges with his health and fought back many times. He was a tough "Guy", always recovering and getting back to the things and the people he loved.

In addition to his parents, Guy was preceded in death by brothers Frank Iannitti, Emilio Iannitti, and Anthony Iannitti.
Survivors include his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Marie (Lisanti) Iannitti; loving children, Marianne (Iannitti) Hodges wife of James Hodges III, Elaine (Iannitti) Carnley wife of Brian Carnley Sr., Michael Iannitti, and Marie (Iannitti) Kerr wife of Christopher Kerr, grandchildren, James Hodges, his wife Shira and Jillian (Hodges) Hucker, Brian Carnley, his wife Nicki and Samantha (Carnley) McMillan wife of Mitchell McMillan and Brittany (Kerr) Clements, wife of Mike Clements and Breanna Kerr, great grandchildren, Hadley Hucker and Lights Carnley.

Family and friends are invited to attend Guy's visitation on Saturday January 11, 2020 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Cavanagh Family Funeral Home, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood. A Prayer Service will be held at 3:00 PM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Guy's widow, Marie, to help with her ongoing medical expenses.

Franky, Redsy, Emilio, and now Guy...The four Forefathers of the Iannitti family are now at rest.
Guy was truly the best of us.
I have been blessed to have had many role models in my family, but none can compare with Uncle Guy. My Heart is broken. I grieve with you.

We were truly blessed to grow up in our unique neighborhood. All of our parents were like our own. We all loved Guy! He really was one of the nicest, kindest, sweetest man I've ever known. It saddens me but I trust he's with his family in heaven. I have hundreds of beautiful memories of him and Marie since I was a little girl. Guy will be missed beyond words.

I will never forget Guy! I've known him since I was a little girl. Such an amazing and loving soul with the most infectious laugh. The heavens have truly gained another Angel. Sending love, peace, and solace to Guy's beautiful family.
