Tribute & Message From The Family

Mary Dorothy Lee Gibson, aged 69 of Aston, passed away suddenly on Wednesday October 18, 2019. She was born to the late Doran Lee and Mary Dorothy Lee nee Bateman on February 8, 1950.

Mary was proud to be a Daughter of the American Revolution, was active in Delaware County politics for many years, and was an avid collector of teacups. Above all, she prided herself in being the Family Fixer—from moving her immediate family out of public housing in Philadelphia, to remembering everyone's birthdays, to giving rides and places to stay, to organizing holidays and other family gatherings. In the last years of her life, she and her siblings cared for their mother until her passing in 2013. She was known for never turning down a request for assistance of any kind.

She is survived by her children, David Adrian Gibson of Media, Pennsylvania and Seth Lee Gibson of San Diego, California. She is also survived by her three grandchildren: CJ, Reika and AJ; as well as her four siblings Jackie, Veronica, John and Agnes.

She has requested a memorial to celebrate her life for her family and friends. The memorial will be on Saturday, October 26th at 1PM at her former residence 31 Drayton Rd, Aston, Pennsylvania.

Mary was the most giving, caring and loving human being I have ever known in this world. She was a brave woman, she was a proud woman, she was my sister.

Hi Mom, thank you for being such a great Mother-in-law. Going through your stuff with Adrian for the last couple of days, I was really inspired by you. You worked several jobs and keep straight A s at school. By the age of 19, you were able to move Mimom and 4 of your younger siblings out of a crime infested area to a house in a nice neighborhood. Three reply mails from the White House revealed your secret identity - Pen pal with the Obama couple. Mountains of cards from family and friends over the years is just another indicator of how much you are loved by everyone. We are going to tell AJ all about his Grandma once he is old enough to understand what a neat, loving, strong and independent lady you are. Rest In Peace.

To the Gibson family - i know only your son David, but that's more than enough to know that you're a tremendous family, and Mary Lee must have been a tremendous mother to have raised such a son. My condolencest to all of you. Sincerely,
